ESCAPE WITH YOUR LOVE INTO THE WORLD OF ROMANTIC MOVIES!
Déjà Vu (1997)
Dana, an L.A. shop owner (Victoria Foyt) and Sean, a London painter (Stephen Dillane) meet by happenstance, and it's love at first sight. Complicating that, of course is the fact that Sean is already married and Dana is about to marry her business partner, Alex (Michael Brandon). If this is really love, is it strong enough to tear them away from their already-established lives? And if it's not, what do they do with the mess they've made?
I loved this intriguing romance. I especially enjoyed the thoughtfully written speech by Vanessa Redgrave...
Expecting the usual ennui that accompanies a summer in the Catskills with her family, 17-year-old Frances "Baby" Houseman (Jennifer Grey) instead finds herself in love. The object of her affection: the resort's free-spirited dance instructor, Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze). But Baby's disapproving dad soon steps in to keep Johnny from putting the moves on his artless daughter. The film earned Oscar honors for Best Song ("I've Had the Time of My Life").
This used to be my step-daughter's favorite, (still is?) And no wonder, it is an energetic and sweet love story.
Based on the novel by Nobel Prize-winning author Boris Pasternak, this brilliant, epic film is about a man (Omar Sharif) and his mistress (Julie Christie) caught up in the danger and drama of the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917. Director David Lean brings the story to scintillating life, while the performances (including a memorable turn by Rod Steiger), production and haunting score are superb. Alec Guinness also stars.
A classic love story, too long for some but luscious in its detail and scope. Unbelievable scenery, it makes "dashing through the snow in a one horse open sleigh" the epitome of romantic moments! And who can resist Omar's puppy-dog eyes?
